EASTBOURNE PHARMACY

Eastbourne Pharmacy is dedicated to making a positive difference in the community.

Supplying what your family need for health and wellness - Our caring and professional team provides solutions and advice to promote health and wellness for our valued clientele.

Medicine Management

Our medicine management service makes it simple to keep track of what you need to take and when. Ask about how we can pack your medicines for ease of use, according to the direction of your doctor.

Blister Packs

At Eastbourne Pharmacy we can provide you with individually made blister packs of your medicines, that specifies when you should take them. These can be supplied weekly, fortnightly, or monthly depending on your needs. This type of packaging can help you to take your medicine at the right time. It can also make it easier to see if you have missed a dose or are running out. Blister packing is useful if you are travelling as it avoids having to take multiple containers. Liquids are not able to be blister packed.
The cost for this service is $5.00 per blisterpack.

Medicine & needles disposal service

Unwanted or expired medicines are often dumped into the toilet, tipped down the sink or put out with the garbage, which starts a journey that can seriously harm the environment. Please return any expired or unwanted medicines, or needles/lancets and syringes to the pharmacy. In doing so, we can make your home a safer place, help safeguard our community and protect our environment. There is no charge for this service.

Health Services

We are proud to offer our community professional and family focused health services to ensure your health and wellbeing needs are taken care of.

Smoking cessation

Our pharmacy staff are trained to provide a service to help people to stop smoking. This service includes advice and providing quit smoking support aids e.g. nicotine gum.
There is a charge for the medicine and the consultation for this service.

Clozapine dispensing

It is very important that you receive regular blood tests while you are taking Clozapine. We will check your blood test results to make sure the appropriate dose of Clozapine is dispensed for you.

Long-term conditions (LTC) service

This service is designed for people with long-term illnesses who may need support with their medicines. An assessment is used to identify the things that affect your ability to take medication as prescribed. Pharmacists work together with you to address each issue. The pharmacist is able to assist you with managing your medications and can coordinate your medications so that your prescription repeats happen all at the same time and therefore require only one trip to have your prescriptions refilled. They can also provide you with a reminder service (via text message, email or phone call) to let you know when your next supply of medications is ready for collection. If you are having difficulties managing your medicines (e.g. forgetting to take them), please ask your pharmacist whether this service is right for you.

Emergency Contraceptive Pill (ECP)

Our pharmacists are trained to assess whether the ECP is appropriate for you. This is done in a confidential manner. The ECP works best if taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse but may be taken up to 72 hours after. There is usually a charge associated with receiving the ECP.
There is a charge for both the medicine and the consultation when you receive this service.

Selected oral contraceptives

Our specially trained pharmacists can supply selected oral contraceptives without a prescription under certain circumstances. Up to six months’ supply of selected oral contraceptives can be sold to women who have previously been prescribed the same oral contraceptive within the last three years and who have not developed any risk factors.
There is a charge for both the medicine and the consultation when you receive this service.

Sildenafil dispensing for erectile dysfunction

There is a charge for both the medicine and the consultation for this service.

Vaccines

Immunisation is one of the most effective medical interventions to prevent infections and has led to the decline of many serious, potentially lethal, diseases. There may be a charge for this service.

COVID-19 Vaccination

What you need to know

The majority of routine vaccinations can now be administered before, after, or at the same time as your COVID-19 vaccinations. The exception to this is the Zostavax (shingles) vaccine where a 7-day gap before or after receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 is advised. If you have any questions, please discuss with one of the pharmacists.

Vaccine Pass

Under the current setting, Vaccines passes are not longer required. If required, we can provide a copy of your vaccine pass and vaccination records for International travel related to a COVID-19 vaccination.

Booking your vaccine

There are a number of simple ways available to book your Vaccine. You can visit www.bookmyvaccine.co.nz. Walk-ins are welcome but might have to wait as we prioritise bookings. Or simply call the pharmacy to arrange a time.

COVID-19 testing for international travel

We are able to offer unfunded pre-departure supervised rapid antigen testing (RATs) for people who are travelling. We only use NZ MOH approved RAT. However, please note requirements of countries may vary and some do not accept RATs, so you will need to review the test requirements for your destination country.
Please call us to book an appointment. The charge for this service is $50/person.

COVID-19 antiviral medication

We can deliver the medicine to your home free of charge. View the Ministry of Health website for information about COVID-19 antiviral medication and who is eligible. To receive the medication please call and talk to the pharmacist first, either immediately after you test positive or develop symptoms to see if the medicines are right for you.

This can be with a prescription from your doctor or nurse, or we can make an assessment of eligibility and provide a pharmacist supply.
